Wine is music. It's a symphony of grapes, in many cases melded together to create an opus of flavor. Music can be personal, and it can be shared. Sometimes certain songs speak to you, and others are simply enjoyable. I find this to also be true about wine. Some bottles you may wish to keep to yourself, as if they were secrets you could never expose. Others you may wish to share and scream about atop a mountain, so that all may enjoy it's glory.

Wine is history. Heroes and villains the world over have drank from the same vines. These vines have witnessed bloodshed. They have witnessed love, and life. They have helped celebrate the triumphs of many, and the memories of even more. To sip upon the efforts of those before you, and to envision the struggles they faced. This is how wine can transcend time.

Wine is science. Tannins, alcohol, phenolics, acidity. They all contribute to create a new existence, a new product. It is sunlight, held together by water. There are brix, ph levels, and more. The laws of nature guide the journey that is winemaking.

Wine is fun. It brings people together. It creates bonds. The lubrification of life for some, and the symbol of unity for more. In truth wine can be whatever you want it to be. Your reasons for your wine journey can be personal or shared. They can be celebrated, or kept secret. You can love some aspects, and hate others. You can dive into what speaks to you, and drink down the rabbit holes that excite you.

Whatever your reason, all I ask; Won't you have a drink with me?
